young local musician georgie winchester will launch her debut ep in maitland

Georgie Winchester will be releasing her debut EP ‘Golden Times’ at the Maitland Junkyard on Sunday 11th July supported by local band ‘Bloom.’ The FREE show kicks off  at 6pm and will be recorded live by local radio station, The Newcastle Music Show . These tracks have been in high rotation within Georgie's live shows around Maitland and Newcastle and have, at last, been recorded in her bedroom studio, mixed by Henry Watkins, and will be released into the online wilderness on the 9th July 2021. The Golden Times EP explores a cycle of relationships which, like everything in life, includes letting go and accepting the inevitability of change.

Based in Maitland, Georgie Winchester has an acoustic-folk sound and is passionate and hard-working when it comes to music. Georgie grew up on a farm near Lostock Dam and recently moved into town to pursue her music career. Taking a break in 2020 due to tonsil surgery, Georgie is back on a roll gigging locally with her grandfathers Ibanez and is due to launch her debut EP with her band at the Maitland Junkyard on the 11th July 2021 at 6pm.

Georgie’s other musical projects include the “Worcestershire Sauce Duo”; two Newcastle based musicians creating wacky music on a combo of drums, piano, guitars and voice and “Ambient Psychoworld”; an electronic sound project combining everyday noise samples gathered from her surroundings and old voice recordings.

She is strongly influenced by artists such as Stella Donnelley, Julia Jacklin & Julien Baker of whom guide the lyrics and melodies within her original songs. Georgie grew up listening to jazz icon, Ella Fitzgerald, who’s smooth and soulful style is particularly prominent in her live performances. Georgie has been playing and singing since she was 6 years old, is classically trained on the piano and is currently gigging around the Hunter Valley. From being the lead singer in a high-school jazz band, Georgie went under her own name in 2019 and does both original and cover gigs at every opportunity solo, duo and with the band. Georgie was aired on NBN’s Tv channel 9, playing her debut single “Golden Times” which was released early 2021. Georgie featured on Ali Barter’s instagram show in 2020 and currently gigs at the best live music venues around Maitland and Newcastle. Otherwise, Georgie studies audio engineering at SAE University, is a waitress in Lorn, and spends all her spare time skating and surfing at Bar Beach where she finds a lot of  inspiration hanging out in nature.
